Our Southern California Recovery Campus
Carlsbad, CA
Carlsbad, California has long been one of Southern California’s most beloved coastal villages, known for its laid back pace of life, clean ocean air, and a shoreline that has a way of putting things in perspective.
It’s the kind of place where the environment itself becomes part of the healing process. At Worthy Wellness Center, we chose this location deliberately.
One block from the beach, our boutique facility sits in the heart of Carlsbad Village, where the ocean, sun, and beauty of a coastal community create conditions that clinical care alone simply cannot manufacture.
Our facility is designed to feel like a home, because recovery shouldn’t feel institutional. Across five comfortable residential houses, clients move through their days in spaces that are warm, private, and intentionally restorative.
Residential treatment includes:
- Therapy rooms with ocean views
- Five comfortable residential houses
- Private bedrooms
- Group meeting and community spaces
- Chef's kitchen and dining area
- Outdoor meditation garden
- Beach access, just a one-block walk

Recovery Pathways Crafted For You
Trauma-Informed Dual Diagnosis
Most of what drives addiction has a name— and it usually isn’t addiction. At Worthy, every treatment plan is built around the whole picture: the substances, the mental health, and the trauma underneath it all. Our dual diagnosis approach treats both simultaneously, because addressing one without the other has never been enough.
Women’s Treatment and Sober Living
Worthy began as a women’s treatment center and that foundation still shows. We offer four dedicated women’s residential houses with female-only living environments, programming designed around the specific ways trauma and addiction show up for women, and women’s sober living for those ready to transition back to independent life.
Pet-Friendly Addiction Treatment
For a lot of people, the thought of leaving their pet behind is what keeps them from getting help. We built our program so that doesn’t have to be the reason. Worthy welcomes dogs under 35 pounds on a case-by-case basis, because sometimes the most healing thing in the room has four legs and no judgment whatsoever.
Our Admissions Process
Step 1: Call and Connect
Your first conversation at Worthy isn’t with an intake coordinator, it’s with our CEO, Samantha Paige, personally. She’ll listen, answer every question, and walk you through what treatment at Worthy actually looks like. No pressure, no paperwork yet. Just an honest conversation about where you are and what you need.
Step 2: Same-Day Insurance Verification
Our team verifies your benefits immediately, clearly explaining your coverage, costs, and options so there are no surprises. We accept most major insurance plans, all out-of-network benefits, and offer cash-pay arrangements. One conversation is all it takes to know exactly what you’re covered for.
Step 3: Arrive and Be Seen in 2 Hours
From the moment you walk through our doors, your care begins. You’ll meet your full treatment team: therapist, psychiatrist, and case manager, on day one. Our psychiatrist completes your evaluation within two hours of arrival, not 72 hours like most programs.
Trauma & Addiction Treatment in San Diego County That Works With Your Insurance
Exceptional care should be within reach, regardless of your financial situation. Worthy Wellness Center accepts most major insurance, cash pay, and referrals from other detox and residential facilities. Our admissions team handles the verification process from start to finish, so you can focus entirely on your recovery. If you’re unsure about your coverage, one call is all it takes.
The Worthy Difference
Most treatment centers were built around efficiency. Worthy was built around you. From the moment you arrive to the day you complete your program, and long after, every detail of your experience here is designed with one question in mind: what does this specific person need to truly heal? The answers look different for everyone. That’s exactly the point.
You'll See Our Psychiatrist Within 2 Hours of Arrival
Most treatment centers take up to 72 hours to complete a psychiatric evaluation. At Worthy, you’re seen within two hours of admission — because your care, your comfort, and your stability shouldn’t wait
A Team as Invested in You as You Are
With 23–25 dedicated professionals supporting a small, intentional census, our 1:1 staff-to-client ratio means you’ll never feel like a number here. Every person on our team knows your name, your story, and your goals.
Your Recovery Journey. Your Rules.
Every week, clients submit a request sheet that can include food preferences, therapeutic activities, and personal needs, and our team reviews every single one. This is what individualized care actually looks like when a program means it.

Worthy is optimally located, staffed and designed for an incredible early recovery experience. The techs, therapists and admissions coordinator are wonderful people who care deeply about quality client experiences. I had the opportunity to interview the CEO, Samantha, and I was incredibly moved by her personal story and her dedication to her clients. The curriculum includes classes for learning emotional regulation tools, building self esteem, cultivating professional skills and more. If you or a loved one is struggling with mental health or SUD, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the staff at Worthy.

I had a really good experience at this treatment center. I came in struggling with PTSD, and the staff were kind, supportive, and always made me feel heard. They worked hard to meet my needs and helped connect me with outside services when needed. I never felt ignored or overlooked. The staff truly cared and went out of their way to help whenever I needed it. The small group setting made it easier to feel comfortable, and the weekend outings were one of the best parts. The food was good, and the environment felt safe and welcoming. This program helped me build a strong foundation and gave me the tools to handle everyday challenges. I’m very grateful for the care and support I received and feel more prepared to live life on life’s terms. difficult time much easier for our family. The team was always willing to answer questions. Worthy Wellness has done a terrific job of treating my clients for a variety of addictions. Holly is smart and amazing at helping with intake and transition. The staff is compassionate and insightful, and they make everyone feel welcome. Their dual diagnosis program is uniquely effective. The facilities are beautiful and well maintained. They coordinate and communicate well with the courts, which prevents problems on the legal side.
I recommend this center very highly, and send them any of my clients that need rehabilitation.

As a case manager placing clients in detox and residential treatment for mental health and substance use disorders, I’ve had consistently great experiences working with Worthy Wellness. Their team is responsive, compassionate, and professional, making the referral and intake process smooth during stressful transitions. They provide gender-specific treatment and offer a full continuum of care, including PHP, IOP, and virtual services. Their client-centered approach and genuine care make them a trusted partner, and I feel confident referring clients to Worthy Wellness.

Worthy Wellness Center is the best! The entire staff is caring and only wants the best for their clients. Holly works very hard to make sure the intakes are taken care of and their CEO is the best, making sure her staff provides the best care for their clients. Their facility is really clean as well and I loved their housing. Looking forward to the other improvements they make to their company.

This review is about the staff at Worthy. They are soo friendly and easy to talk to. The main office is in the best location and I felt welcome as soon as I walked through the door. I just met the owner recently and I’ve never met someone more invested and committed to providing the best possible service. They are really changing the community for the better and I 100% would recommend this place to anybody who is looking for treatment.

I recently hosted a suicide prevention event in collaboration with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at Worthy Wellness, and I couldn’t be more impressed. As a mental health advocate and a behavioral health professional with over a decade of experience, I found the facility to be exceptional. The clinical staff is not only highly qualified but also deeply compassionate.
Worthy Wellness is truly dedicated to promoting mental health and well-being, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such an outstanding team. I highly recommend Worthy Wellness to anyone seeking support or resources in the mental health community.

Common Questions
What does treatment at Worthy Wellness actually look like day to day?
Every day at Worthy is built around you, not a generic schedule. Depending on your level of care, your day includes individual therapy, group sessions, holistic activities like equine therapy or sound healing, meals prepared by our chef, and time to breathe. PHP runs six hours daily Monday through Friday. IOP offers three to five days per week. Every schedule is built around your clinical needs and your life.
How quickly can I get started?
Within 24 hours of your first call. You’ll speak directly with our CEO Samantha Paige for an immediate intake assessment, get same-day insurance verification, and meet your full treatment team. When someone is ready, we don’t make them wait.
How long will I be in treatment?
Our average client stays four months, well beyond the industry standard of 30 to 90 days. Your specific timeline depends on your insurance coverage, clinical progress, and level of care transitions. Some clients stay as few as two weeks. Others stay up to fifteen months. We work with your insurance to maximize your time here because we know that lasting recovery takes longer than most programs allow for.
Do you treat mental health conditions or just addiction?
Both, and more often than not, both at the same time. We treat depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, complex trauma, and eating disorders alongside substance use. Our dual diagnosis approach means we never treat one without looking at the other, because for most people, they’re not separate problems.
What insurance plans do you accept?
We accept most major insurance plans including Anthem Blue Cross, Aetna, United Healthcare, Cigna, Blue Shield of California, and all out-of-network benefits. We also offer cash-pay options and extended stay arrangements. Our admissions team handles the entire verification process for free, so you know exactly what you’re covered for before you commit to anything.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes — and we mean it. Worthy is one of the few treatment centers in California that welcomes pets into the program. Dogs under 35 pounds are typically accommodated on a case-by-case basis, and they can live with you in our residential houses and participate in parts of your recovery alongside you. Just let us know during your admission call and we’ll work out the details together.
Can I keep my phone during treatment?
Yes. You’ll have access to your phone during non-treatment hours — evenings, breaks, and downtime. There are no phones during group therapy or structured activities, but we treat our clients like adults. WiFi is available in all residential houses, and for those in IOP with work responsibilities, we build in appropriate flexibility.
Is family involved in treatment?
During the initial stabilization period, we focus on the client first. Once clinical progress supports it, family therapy sessions become available to help repair relationships, rebuild trust, and create a home environment that supports long-term recovery. We recognize that addiction and mental health challenges affect the whole family system and that recovery outcomes are stronger when families heal alongside their loved ones.
What therapies and treatment modalities do you use?
Our clinical program blends evidence-based therapies with holistic healing. Evidence-based modalities include CBT, DBT, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Polyvagal Theory. On the holistic side, clients have access to equine therapy, TMS, somatic experiencing, affect regulation, sound healing, yoga, personal training, and nutrition counseling.
What happens after I finish treatment?
Recovery doesn’t end at discharge and neither does our relationship with you. Our alumni program includes Wednesday night meetings, continuing psychiatric care via telehealth, lifetime access to our alumni support network, and a mobile app in development for ongoing connection. Many of our graduates stay in touch with their psychiatrist long after leaving. Some even come back to work with us.
What is your success rate?
Our program completion rate sits at 87%, which is significantly above industry averages. Our clients stay an average of four months, compared to the 30 to 90 day standard most programs operate within. Several of our graduates now work on our team, which we think says more about the quality of this program than any statistic could. We offer year-long post-graduation check-ins because we know that recovery is a long game, and we’re committed to being part of it.
What makes Worthy different from other treatment centers in California?
Honestly? The details. A psychiatrist who sees you within two hours, not three days. A CEO who personally takes your intake call. A 1:1 staff-to-client ratio that means 23 to 25 professionals are dedicated to fewer than 30 clients. Weekly request sheets where you can ask for anything and the CEO reads every single one. A dog-friendly campus one block from the beach. Four months of treatment instead of 30 days. These aren’t just selling points, they’re the result of building a program around what people actually need to heal.
