TMS Therapy

Evidence-based Treatment

TMS Therapy

There is no “one size fits all” approach to mental health treatment – or, at least, there shouldn’t be. No two people respond to treatment the same, which means that some individuals might require a different set of options than others. As a leading rehab and mental health treatment center, Worthy Wellness Center seeks to provide our community with the tools and resources they need to handle the greatest challenges in life. TMS therapy is one of these tools—it is a noninvasive form of treatment that can help those struggling with depression and other mental health concerns.

We are committed to creating a safe, secure environment where our clients can focus on their health and well-being, inside and out. As a part of our treatment programs, we offer a blend of holistic and evidence-based therapies that are designed to put you on the path to full healing. Ready to discover how our treatment programs can help you take charge of your symptoms? Call us at (833) 569-3814 or contact us today to learn more about how WWC can support you throughout your mental health journey.

What is TMS Therapy?

TMS stands for transcranial magnetic stimulation. It’s an FDA-approved therapy that can be used to help clients struggling with various mental health issues. It uses magnetic fields and electrical currents to stimulate nerve cells in the brain. Because the neurons in our brains send information via small bursts of electricity, they can be influenced by the short magnetic pulses used in TMS.
For some people, there are certain areas of the brain that are affected by depression. TMS therapy allows professionals to target these sections and influence the firing of the brain cells, called neurons. It works by stimulating specific areas of the brain with the goal of altering the activity of these neurons.
So, when used alongside other therapies and treatment methods, TMS therapy can be a valuable part of a larger mental health treatment plan. By affecting the ways in which neurons communicate, it can address dysfunctional pathways in the brain and help encourage new patterns. The frequency, magnet strength, patterns, and targeted area of TMS can be adjusted to suit each individual’s needs.
The length and frequency of TMS therapy sessions can vary depending on the individual. Sessions are often scheduled for between three to five days weekly. Because there are rarely any side effects or recovery time necessary, clients can often return to their daily activities immediately after a session.

TMS Therapy Uses

TMS is often used when other methods, such as medication, have been ineffective at reducing or eliminating symptoms. While it is mainly used to treat depression, TMS therapy can help alleviate symptoms of other mental health conditions as well, such as OCD. It has also been known to help individuals who suffer from migraines or assist people in quitting smoking.
Research into other potential uses for TMS is ongoing, but it has been a reliable tool for psychiatrists and mental healthcare professionals for decades. However, while TMS therapy can be highly effective, it’s often most beneficial when combined with other treatment efforts, like regular talk therapy or group therapy sessions.

Our Approach

Advantages of TMS Therapy

TMS is a safe, effective, noninvasive form of therapy that can help clients make progress in their mental health journey. Because it is a drug-free form of treatment, there is a very low risk of side effects, with the most likely complications involving only minimal discomfort.

Some people may not be eligible for TMS therapy, especially if they have a history of seizures or other neurological medical concerns. However, for many, it is a safe and convenient treatment method that can produce results in a matter of weeks.

At Worthy Wellness Center, we strive to be more than a provider of addiction treatment services. We also aim to be a trustworthy source for mental health treatment, ranging from traditional talk therapy to more revolutionary options, including TMS therapy.

Combined with our other evidence-based treatment modalities – such as group therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) – TMS therapy helps us address the needs of each client. We’re here to help you connect with the support that will revolutionize your mental health, and that means leveraging new technologies and methods that may provide relief when traditional treatment options don’t.

We Can Help

TMS Therapy and Addiction Treatment

TMS has been shown to be effective for those who might not find relief with medication for depression. When seeking treatment for addiction and drug use, it’s important to address any underlying or co-occurring mental health concerns. These types of cases can be complex and require attentive treatment. That’s where Worthy Wellness Center can help.

We offer dual diagnosis treatment that aims to help clients manage the intricacies of behavioral, mood, and mental health conditions that may impact their substance use. These programs address needs related to both mental health and substance use disorders while also exploring the areas where they overlap.

TMS therapy can be an encouraging option for clients who may not find traditional medication beneficial or have not made progress with other treatment methods. It can be part of a successful addiction treatment or dual-diagnosis treatment plan, especially for clients whose substance use behaviors are heavily linked to mental health symptoms.

Worthy Wellness prioritizes the mental healthcare of our patients to help them build a strong foundation for a healthy, happy life. For those struggling with substance use disorders, treating comorbid conditions such as depression, OCD, and PTSD can be the key to lasting, sustainable recovery. All of our licensed therapists are trained in trauma-informed treatment methods and equipped to help you navigate the complexities of mental health and addiction.
